World Music Festival — Cleveland Stadium (1975)

Rare Stadium Concert Photography from the Mid-1970s Touring Era

Presented here is a rare collection of photographs documenting the 1975 World Music Festival at Cleveland Municipal Stadium — capturing the scale, atmosphere, and energy of large-format outdoor concerts during a transformative period in live music production.

These images preserve wide views of the stadium environment, stage construction, audience scenes, and the immense infrastructure required to support major concert events during the mid-1970s. Beyond the performers themselves, the photographs offer a glimpse into the experience of stadium rock at a time when touring productions, sound reinforcement, and concert logistics were rapidly evolving.

While it is believed that Showco may have provided sound reinforcement for portions of the event or participating artists during this era, this collection primarily serves as a broader visual document of the concert environment and production scale associated with large stadium events of the time.

The photographs were generously shared with the Showco Archives by Ed Beecher from his late uncle’s personal collection. According to Ed, the images were taken by photographer Ted Nyerges and sourced from original 35mm slides.

As with many historically important materials preserved within the archives, these images survived because individuals took the time to save them long before anyone imagined their historical significance decades later.

The Showco Archives remains dedicated to preserving the people, culture, technology, and stories behind live music history — “The Family Behind the Music.”

If you recognize anyone appearing in these photographs, have additional historical details to share, or possess related backstage photographs, stage plots, recordings, passes, itineraries, or touring ephemera connected to this era of concert production, please consider contributing to the archive.

Every contribution helps preserve another piece of live music history for future generations.
