Havana Jam (1979): Rock Meets Revolution

In March 1979, American musicians played Cuba for the first time since the revolution — and Showco made it happen. The Havana Jam festival brought together an incredible lineup including Weather Report, Kris Kristofferson, Rita Coolidge, Billy Joel, and Cuban artists like Irakere, all performing at the Karl Marx Theatre. It was a cultural milestone, a logistical feat, and a moment where music cut through politics. Showco's crew and equipment helped bridge two worlds for three historic nights.

ZuDahn Productions is currently working on a documentary about this historic event, and Showco Archives was proud to contribute. Check out the Havana Jam '79 teaser and support their efforts to bring this story to life.

Were you part of the Havana Jam crew? I'm always looking for photos, stories, and memorabilia to add to the archive. Reach out anytime.
