Larry Sizemore’s story is woven deep into the fabric of SHOWCO, Vari-Lite, and live music history. After graduating from Garland High School in 1968, Larry was drawn to the world of live music and touring, joining SHOWCO in 1974 and quickly becoming a key part of the pioneering Vari-Lite team.

Larry toured with rock legends including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Madonna, ZZ Top, and many others. He learned his craft on the road—working followspots, running lights, and growing alongside bands who went from openers to legends. By the late ’70s, he was designing for Nazareth, The Kinks, Joan Armatrading, and spent seven months as Skynyrd’s LD before returning to Zeppelin. His expertise, humor, and generosity helped blaze the trail for modern tour production as one of the early members of SHOWCO and Vari-Lite’s renowned crew.

In the 1990s, Larry continued his impact on the industry by working at Starplex Pavilion in Dallas, before launching Production Personnel Services to support local events and mentor the next generation of touring professionals. Whether on arena tours or back to basics in small theaters, Larry’s passion for lighting—and for the people behind the gear—never faded.

Larry’s warmth, laughter, and passion for the craft left an indelible mark on the SHOWCO and Vari-Lite family.
