Lynyrd Skynyrd: Back on the Road (1987–1990)
When Lynyrd Skynyrd returned to the road in 1987, Showco was there. Ten years after the plane crash, surviving band members reunited with Johnny Van Zant on lead vocals for a tribute tour that became a new chapter in the band’s history.
Showco supplied the tour’s sound, with a crew that included Pat Farrell, David Conyers, Bill Larmour, and Ron Reeves. Contemporary tour reports document Showco’s AX speaker system and Harrison mixing consoles in 1987, followed by continued work with Skynyrd in 1988. The connection between the band and Showco carried into the reunion years, linking this return to their earlier years together on the road.
This page preserves that chapter through photographs, tour memorabilia, and the stories of the people who were there. If you have materials or memories from these tours, I’d love to help preserve them here. Use the Add to the Story feature at the bottom of this page to share your memories, identify someone in a photo, or offer a correction.
