Phil Collins | 1995–2000
This section brings together Phil Collins material from 1995 through 2000, including the closing chapter of the Both Sides of the World Tour, 1994–1995, and a 1997 contribution from Joey Chardukian, who worked for Vari-Lite.
The Both Sides tour stretched across 13 months, with more than 150 performances on six continents before over three million fans. It began in Utrecht, Holland, on April 1, 1994, and concluded in Manila on May 17, 1995.
For those who toured with Genesis, Mike and the Mechanics, or Phil’s solo productions, Margaret Maxwell was a familiar and much-loved presence. Remembered as a grandmotherly figure, she brought kindness, calm, and a steadying presence to the demanding pace of touring. Through her photography and thoughtful editing—and through the work of Lewis Lee—so much of the touring family’s history was preserved.
The Both Sides tour crew photograph is believed to have been taken by Margaret, though that attribution remains unconfirmed. Margaret later pursued nature photography and has since passed away, but her warmth and perspective remain part of the archive’s living memory. She was one of the common threads across many a Showco tour, preserving the people and moments that still connect this community.
