THE JACKSONS
1979–1981
Showco supported The Jacksons during a pivotal period in the group’s touring history, beginning with the 1979 Destiny World Tour and continuing through at least 1981, during the era of the Triumph Tour. Showco provided the sound, lighting, rigging, transportation, equipment, and experienced touring personnel required to take the group’s increasingly ambitious productions across the country.
A surviving Showco personnel roster from the fall 1979 tour identifies the crew scheduled from October 2 through December 16, 1979. The roster preserves the names of the Showco alumni and touring personnel working behind the scenes as The Jacksons performed material from Destiny, their Jackson 5 catalog, and songs from Michael Jackson’s landmark solo album, Off the Wall.
