Morris Lyda is a veteran live-production professional whose career spans Showco’s formative touring years and decades of large-scale international concert production. He now resides in Australia.

SHOWCO YEARS

Lyda began in the Showco world as an audio and touring crew member during the company’s early expansion. His work placed him inside the demanding environment in which Showco’s sound systems, road practices and close-knit crew culture were being developed. Archive material connects him with the Wings era, including Paul McCartney and Wings’ landmark 1976 Wings Over America tour.

GENESIS AND CONCERT TECHNOLOGY

Lyda later became an important part of the Genesis production organization, moving beyond his early audio work into senior technical-production leadership. His role belonged to the touring and production-deployment side of the Showco and Vari-Lite story: helping translate new concert technology into reliable systems that could be transported, installed and operated on major international tours.

This distinction matters. Lyda was not one of the original Vari-Lite engineers; his contribution was in the real-world production environment that helped groundbreaking Showco-developed technology succeed on the road.

PRODUCTION LEADERSHIP

Lyda went on to serve as a production manager and production director for Genesis and Phil Collins projects. A 1990 Austin American-Statesman feature identified him as Production Manager/Director for Phil Collins’ …But Seriously World Tour—one of the era’s largest and most technically ambitious international concert productions.
