Randy Garrett joined Vari-Lite in 1982 during its early years of automated concert lighting. He built a long touring career as a lighting technician, dimmer tech, and master electrician, and remains active in the industry with Zach Bryan.

Selected artist and tour credits: Genesis (1982); Ruff Ryders/Cash Money Tour (2000, including DMX, Eve, Drag-On, The Lox, Juvenile, B.G. and Lil Wayne); Rush’s Snakes & Arrows (2007–2008); Beyoncé’s The Mrs. Carter Show (2013–2014); Roger Waters’ Us + Them (2017–2018); Farm Aid 40 (2025); and Zach Bryan’s With Heaven On Tour (2026–present).

Randy’s collection includes photographs from Genesis in 1982 and images documenting Vari-Lite’s 1985 European and Japanese market build.
